Abraham Hulk junior was de zoon van Abraham Hulk senior (Londen, 1813-1897). Net als zijn vader bracht hij het grootste deel van zijn leven in Engeland door en maakte hij veelvuldig reizen naar Nederland, waar hij op verschillende plaatsen werkte.In beide landen wordt Abraham Hulk junior als een van de eigen schilders gezien.Hij werd geboren in Londen en woonde en werkte hier en in Nottingham en in Dorking, (Surrey). Zijn artistieke hoogte punt bereikte Abraham Hulk jr. tussen 1876 en 1892. In deze periode ontving hij veel waardering op vooraanstaande tentoonstellingen zoals, de Royal Academy, waar hij door de jaren heen, in totaal 24 werken ten toonstelde. Ook nam hij 15 maal deel aan de jaarlijkse tentoonstelling van de Royal Society of British Artists. De meeste bekendheid kreeg hij met zijn typische Hollandse en zuid-Engelse landschappen, die hij meesterlijk in aquarel- en olieverf wist vast te leggen.

Attributed to "The School of Rubens"17th Century Oil on Canvas.
After the famous "witch's" tale , during the Dutch/Spanish "80-Year War";

a man was captured and sentenced. The young mum kept her father alive.
The "Spanish Inquisition" killed him anyway, when, allthus he proved them wrong !
Faintly there is a Spanish soldier guarding the jail-door on the background.

Exh.: 3 works by The Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Str.,

London,anno 1850.Being: 1 work on; "A line by Coleridge" ;
a portrait: the famous "The lilly of the Valley" and the even better known:"Gleaners" painting. Anno 1885, The British Institution chose "Gleaners" again.
The B.I. is a rival to Royal Academie, Pall Mall, London( near the Boydell's Shakespeare Gallery).

J.Perkins was one of the co-founders to the B.I. The B.I. was set up with the aim: " to encourage and reward the talents of the artists of the U.K., by means of organised loan-exhibitions of Old Masters for students to copy and learn". Aim: Anybody good enough, got a chance; not just the happy few!
Anno 1867, the B.I. was important enough in this branch that it got taken in,
and also accepted by The Royal Academie.
Note: #Original frames could do with restoring/replacing.
